Donna Carr
In September of 2000 I stepped onto a Yoga mat for the 1st time and from that moment “I Knew”. Talk about a “aha moment”.
Donna started sharing her passion for the teachings one year later teaching for a local Yoga center and the Local College. A dual back surgery survivor she is a living example of how Yoga can greatly improve and even free you from back pain. After retiring from her “job” of 25 years in the spring of 2007, she relocated to Surfside Beach to continue teaching Yoga.
She earned her 200 hour Raja Hatha “CYT” and Usui Reiki Ryoho certifications through the loving teachings of Pat Harpell who she continues to study with. She is currently a “RYT” with the Yoga Alliance. She met and became friends with Donna Stead during her transition to the area, and they have worked together ever since spreading the benefits of Yoga and its teachings. Donna Carr currently teaches Chair, Beginners,Healthy Back and Restorative Yoga. She is available for private lessons and will teach small groups of 2-6 people your location or at the Yogaroom. Barb Kaiser -
In February of 1997 I began my journey into the fitness world becoming certified as an ACE Group Fitness Instructor. Over the years I felt the need to find a deeper path of fitness incorporating not only cardio and body conditioning but also working on flexibility and core strengthening. This led me to Yoga and Pilates which have become my passion over the last 10 years. I finally feel that I have come full circle in my life. I want to bring the fusion of two forms of exercise together mixing the discipline of Yoga and development of the core while toning muscles, increasing flexibility and reducing stress.
Vona Broughton Vona is a health educator, whose interest lies in holistic nutrition. Her direction in life has led to a yogic path. She has a deep curiosity and love for this very special art form. Her practice is a combination of Bhakti yoga and Hatha yoga, more specifically named Atma Yoga. This yoga is about love, relationships and connections. It is based on Sanskrit texts, and helps us to realize that we are neither a body nor a mind, but a soul.
Though Vona considers herself to be a “baby yogini” she has a genuine love and compassion for others and a desire to become closer to the Divine. She received Atma Yoga teacher training under Atmananda Das, housed in the Krishna Consciousness community of Los Angeles, CA, but hopes continue to learn under the mentorship of talented local yoga teachers and to spread this special yoga practice to her own Myrtle Beach community.
Anna Kowalczyk
My baptism into yoga began at the early age of 50! Needing to nurse some running injuries, and wanting to shed some extra pounds, were my initial motivating factors. Like most, I had no idea about the wonderful gifts that awaited me on this new adventure. Within a month, I realized that although my physical body was humming and healing, my emotional, mental and spiritual selves were coming into an effortless balance and equanimity. I was in love….in love with getting to know and appreciate my body…..in love with the mental clarity, the emotional equilibrium… and in love with the accepting and compassionate community of yogis that welcomed me in….unconditionally…until I learned how to do “all of the above” for myself.
I am a teacher by profession and calling….and the desire to teach, to return the generosity of yogic life became overwhelming. I enrolled in a 500 hour certification and earned my Yoga Alliance certification within the next two years. My certifications include hatha, vinyassa, power, restorative, pre-natal, and adolescent yoga. I trained under the Kripalu tradition with a heavy emphasis on Baron Baptist power yoga. Recently, Jivamukti has become my passion and obsession. My recent journeys have also included workshops with Sean Corn, and David Swenson. My initial years were Asthanga lead and mysore based….All of the above have meshed, swirled and converged into my own unique approach that is heavily steeped with meditation, pranayama, and deep intense studies of the 8 limbs and the ethical restraints…
